As Head of Finance at Indigo Swan I am responsible for reviewing and monitoring financial reporting processes and identifying efficiencies as the business grows.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
My qualifications – it was tough!
So tough in fact that at one point I considered giving up! It would have been so easy to drop it all but I didn’t and that makes me proud.
TELL US AN INTERESTING FACT?
I’ve experienced (and survived) a tiger encounter at Australia Zoo.
HOW DID YOU GET HERE?
I began my accountancy journey at a local practise in Norwich City Center where I completed my AAT qualification and commenced my ACCA studies. After seven dedicated years of assisting clients I wanted to see what life was like on the other side and decided to move into industry. My first industry role was Senior Finance Officer at a charity. I learnt a lot and working for a charity had a real sense of reward. I completed my ACCA qualification and the time came where I wanted to gain experience in the commercial world where I landed a role as Senior Management Accountant at a corporate organisation. During this employment, an opportunity arose for an internal promotion to Finance Manager/Financial Controller which I took (these don’t happen often in the finance world). Again this role taught me a lot about finance but also me as a person and my time spent here was invaluable however something wasn’t right. This wasn’t my forever role. It just wasn’t ‘me’.
It made me realise I wanted to work for a smaller company, where I made a real difference and felt passion towards my job. I have no regrets, my career to date has taught me a lot and I wouldn’t be where I am today – here as Head of Finance at Indigo Swan.
Now this… is ‘me’.
WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE YOUR HEADER IMAGE?
I have fond memories of my trip to Australia which I will treasure forever. One of my highlights was visiting the stunning Fraser Island.
