The Swans have voted for our charity of the year…

In order to select our chosen charity of the year, several charities are presented to the Swans who are asked to anonymously vote for the one they would like to support for that year. The charities presented are those that have shown an interest in working together or have approached us for our support.

As some of you may know, for the past 5 years our chosen charity has been Norfolk and Waveney Mind. It’s a charity we all hold close to our hearts, which is why I’m very excited to reveal that we will be supporting them for another year. It was a very close vote (the closest yet), which is why we have decided to support the runner up next year.

James commented: “We all have mental health, but poor mental health is something that all of us will come in contact with at some stage during our lives – whether that’s someone you know, a friend, a family member or even yourself. At Indigo Swan we’re passionate about being upfront, honest and open about challenges facing people with poor mental health. We want to continue to help with raising awareness and support all of the Swans within every aspect of their wellbeing.”

“Supporting Norfolk & Waveney Mind is something that as a leader of the business I am extremely passionate about. We have done an incredible job over the last 5 years in raising money for the charity and more importantly sharing with other local businesses how we tackle and support mental health both inside and outside of the workplace. This will be our last year supporting Norfolk & Waveney Mind. It has been an amazing journey and I hope one that has shone a light on the importance of workplace wellbeing and the need to talk more openly about poor mental health. The journey for us and the stigma attached isn’t over yet” he continued.

Throughout 2020 we will be taking part in various fundraising activities, including our Big Indigo Quiz, Netwalks, and Bake Sales in order to help us raise as much money as possible for the fantastic charity who provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.

Alex from Norfolk and Waveney Mind commented: “As Fundraising Manager, I am delighted to be working with the wonderful Swans at Indigo Swan again in 2020, following their staff vote to choose to support Norfolk and Waveney Mind this year. The fundraising which our amazing supporters does helps us provide projects within local communities to support the mental health of the people in Norfolk and Waveney. One of the projects which has been supported is the Anchor Project, working with people in the area who have been bereaved by suicide. Over eight weeks, the group provides support to allow people to speak openly about their reactions, feelings and emotions, to find support and to meet others who are going through similar experiences.”

Keep your eyes peeled for updates coming soon as we launch our year of fundraising for Norfolk and Waveney Mind.
