Indigo Swan hosted its hotly anticipated ‘Big Indigo Charity Quiz’ recently at the impressive Norwich Football stadium, where we raised £4,000 for Norwich Mind.

It was set to be our biggest yet and working together with our chosen charity we managed to round up over 200 eager participants (the most attendees to date) including lots of friendly faces from local businesses and organisations.

Emily Groves, Founder and Managing Director of Indigo Swan, said:

“Every year I’m blown away by the support and kindness of the Norfolk business community and all our friends who are happy to donate prizes, enter teams and buy thousands of raffle tickets at our Big Indigo Quiz of the Year.

For the third year in a row we have loved working alongside Norfolk and Norwich Mind, an amazing charity.  The support they have introduced this year for those bereaved from suicide is a cause very close to my heart after my Mum’s death when I was 18.

This year we smashed the number of quiz guests, raffle prizes and money raised, reaching a phenomenal £4000 in our 4th year. We’ll have to be bold and aim for £5000 next year.”

We had our fair share of playful rivalry

The fun evening certainly saw its fair share of playful rivalry with over 30 teams going head-to-head to be crowned the 2018 quiz champions. There were 6 rounds in total with subjects including sport, music, entertainment and the year 2010. It didn’t go without its hiccups, a couple of protests and an overly loud quiz master at times – but that’s what made it unique and extra swan special!

The winning team was ‘It’s Accrual World’ from Larking Gowen who were presented with some yummy wine kindly donated by Kevin Foley. There was of course some obligatory wooden spoons for the team who didn’t quite perform as well as the others, (the losers) but we won’t name and shame!

Roll up for the raffle

The night didn’t stop there as attendees still had a chance to bag a prize on our fantastic raffle. We had around 40 prizes kindly donated to us for the raffle including a Google Home Mini, £50 The Ivy voucher, Two course lunch for two at Bishops Dining room & Wine bar, one month gym pass at Nuffield Health Norwich, Jarrold pamper experience worth £60 and so much more! Our flock of Swans were on hand to sell and at £5 a strip they sold like hot cakes.

One of the lucky winners included Tugay Akman who managed to get his hands on one of the two Indigo Golf Day tickets that were up for grabs on the night – Well done Tugay!

In total we managed to raise a superb £4,000 for Norwich Mind charity, a fantastic achievement we couldn’t of reached without everyone’s kindness, generosity and support. The Swans would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those involved and the fabulous local business community who helped make the evening such a success.

James Groves, Commercial Director, commented:

“Mind is a charity that is close to the heart for many of our Swans. Indigo Swan puts wellbeing at the workplace and at home at the very top of its agenda. To see all of the Swans proactively engage with the charity on nights like this and for 20 people from a small company in Norwich to make such a huge difference to Mind is something we are all extremely proud of. As we say “how we do anything is how we do everything” and I think it is safe to say that the quiz was full of personality, excitement, fun and everyone had a great time. Bring on the 5th Big Indigo Quiz next year! ”

A big thank you

We would like to say a massive thank you to Santander for sponsoring our game of ‘Heads and Tails’, for donating the generous Jarrold Hamper as the winning prize and for match funding the money raised in this round.

Every penny raised from the quiz will go directly to Norwich Mind and help those who are in need of the amazing services that Mind offer.
