After a secret swan vote we are delighted to announce our chosen charity for 2019 is Norwich Mind for the fourth year running.

Throughout 2019 the team at Indigo Swan will be taking part in various activities including of course The Big Indigo Quiz to help raise money for our charity of the year, Norwich Mind, a fantastic charity which provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. It works hard to help reduce the stigma associated with mental health and champion better services for all.

James Groves, Commercial Director, commented:

“I am so proud that Indigo Swan supports Mind with our charity activity. No matter who you are, you will know someone who suffers with a mental health issue. This is why the work that Mind do is more important now than ever before. The work they do is amazing, the lives they change is inspiring. To think that Indigo Swan plays a little part in raising the much-needed funds, so that Mind can continue changing lives is extremely gratifying to me.”

Norwich Mind

Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind, which is affiliated to National Mind, was established in 1966 by a group of individuals who wanted to greatly improve mental health care in Norfolk, by challenging the traditional large institutional model which was prevalent at the time.

Sarah Ingram, from Norwich Mind added:

“Norwich & Central Norfolk Mind are absolutely delighted to be supported once again by Indigo Swan as their chosen charity for 2019.  Each year the support and the funds that have been raised for us has been incredible and all their hard work and fundraising efforts have gone a long way to enable us to implement projects such as a Suicide Bereavement Group, a Wellbeing Project for the LGBTQ community and the continuation of our Mental Health Signposting Service.  We work hard to make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone and we are so very grateful for this continued support.”

The swans have been raising funds for Norwich Mind for the last three years and have managed to raise over £12,000 in total. We are all super excited to get back on the fundraising boat this year with some new challenges on the horizon.Mindful Employer logo

Charter for employers

Indigo Swan is proud to have been a Mindful Employer signatory, a national NHS initiative run by Workways aimed at increasing awareness of mental health in the workplace, since 2016.

The Charter is not an accreditation or an award but a voluntary agreement for employers who share a commitment to work with a positive approach towards mental health. Its aim is to provide employers with easier access to information and support for employees with mental health conditions.

As an employer we’re committed to creating a supportive and open culture. We promote well-being and want to create an atmosphere where everybody can thrive. We recognise each Swan for their own amazing qualities and character, and acknowledge that this diversity contributes to our culture, which we cherish.

A wide range of employers from all over the UK are involved in the initiative giving businesses and organisations easier access to information, practical support, training, networks and assistance from other employers. For more information visit: www.mindfulemployer.net
