#MilesInMay

We love to fundraise here at Indigo Swan and raise money for local charities and organisations that are close to our hearts, and as many people know, our chosen charity for 2021 is Big C Cancer Charity.

Towards the end of 2020, we organised a Charity Relay Race to raise money for Norfolk Waveney and Mind, and one of the things we loved about this was being able to bring together the local business community. We wanted to find a way to still be able to do this alongside any restrictions, whilst being able to raise money for a worthwhile cause.

We have a really exciting event coming up that will be taking place throughout May, ‘Miles in May’.

We have teamed up with 10 amazing local businesses to join forces and collaborate in a team race to raise money for Big C. Similar to our ‘Charity Relay Race’ challenge, we are looking to cover a distance virtually as a group. We’re hoping to virtually travel the distance from Norwich, Norfolk to Norfolk Island, Australia which works out at around 10,700 miles (as the crow flies). This will be divided equally amongst the businesses taking part. We have set the fundraising target for this campaign at £5,000 which we think is achievable, taking into consideration the fantastic amount we managed to raise at our last event!

Each business will be fundraising for their activity, and the combined totals be added together to create a grand total for the campaign. The businesses taking part are:

  • CJC Procurement
  • CommTech
  • Farnell Clarke
  • Hugh J Boswell
  • Liftshare
  • Quickfire
  • Soak Digital
  • Fountain
  • Chadwicks
  • The Armoury
  • Indigo Swan

We will all be working together as a group and either running, cycling or walking to reach our goal!

The campaign will take place over the whole of May, which is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. UV exposure from the sun is one of the main causes of skin cancer and also one of the most preventable. Skin Cancer Awareness Month aims to raise awareness of the dangers of unprotected sun exposure and educate about the ways to help prevent skin cancer.

You will be able to track our progress on social media using the hashtag #MilesInMay check on how we are getting on through our regular updates and see how much we have raised.

We know that this past year has been difficult for a lot of people, but if you can help support us by donating anything at all we would really appreciate it. Please visit our Just Giving page to find out more: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Indigo-Swan2

Wish us luck!
