What is motivation?
The dictionary definition of a motivator is “something that provides a reason or stimulus to do something“. We all need a little help every now and then to muster the strength and determination we need to make changes in our lives. It can take a great deal of work to achieve our goals. So, how do we do it? Motivation is a personal thing, and is unique to each of us.
What motivates you?
We asked some of the Swans to share the things that motivate them.
I am motivated by helping and then seeing colleagues develop, achieve their goals and enjoy being part of the team (a swan).
I am motivated so that I can give my wife everything that she deserves and so that we can live a happy and comfortable life whilst sharing our adventures with friends and family.
I am motivated by the knowledge that Indigo Swan is making a difference to our clients and continuously innovating within the marketplace to keep ourselves at the top of the pack for client experience, service and relationships with our clients and our suppliers.

This one is easy – my husband! He motivates me in the sense of believing I can do whatever I put my mind to and telling me to go get it but also he is my motivation because I want to make the best of everything for us.

Recognition motivates me!
There’s no better feeling than being recognised for surpassing goals and targets and doing an excellent job! 😊

I love that I love going to work. Why do I love going to work? Because I am motivated. What makes me feel motivated…?
A finance role can often be segregated from the rest of the business, but not here in the nest. I feel that I am as valued as anyone else and along with that feeling of being part of a team this is what makes me get up in the morning. Knowing that during the day my efforts will make a difference, be it developing our yearly budget or supporting a fellow swan. These tasks are equally rewarded with that feel-good factor.
There is an element of challenge to keep me focused on what I need to achieve. The level of support and enthusiasm is amazing, our goals are shared, and everyone truly wants the best for each individual and the business.
It’s easy to feel motivated when you love going to work.

Many things motivate me but the phrase that gets me going every time is – “Greatness is created in the moment” – don’t eat the cake, do climb the stairs, crack on and make that phone call….

I am motivated to do well so I can explore more of the world with my husband. I live for my holidays as we love to explore new places and cultures.

My garden motivates me, to get up early every Sunday, (as long as it’s not raining) to potter about and make the most of the day.

I am driven by what makes me feel good. Whether that be from having a great conversation with a new client at work, helping someone with their health issues through Reflexology or getting up earlier to enjoy some time on my yoga mat.
I have developed better habits over the last couple of years, in my work and personal life, because I have tuned into what triggers me to feel good, physically, mentally and emotionally.
I am also motivated by order. I like to get things done and a project completed because it creates order which, in turn, makes me feel good!
