We’ve won the regional heats for the Chamber Business ‘Workplace Wellbeing’ Award!

We are over the moon and super proud to have been selected as the regional winner for the Chamber Business ‘Workplace Wellbeing’ Award! The Chamber Business Awards celebrate the very best of British businesses, so it’s a real honour to be representing Norfolk.

James Groves, Managing Director said: “Wellbeing in the workplace has always been of the upmost importance to all of us at Indigo Swan. With ‘Happiness First’ as one of our core values it is imperative that we give the team a safe habitat to be themselves and to be able to be open and honest about their wellbeing daily.”

There are 53 Accredited Chambers in total which make up the trusted British Chambers of Commerce network which exists to support and connect companies. It’s a way of bringing people together, sharing best practices and forming new relationships. Indigo Swan have been part of the Norfolk Chambers of Commerce for X years and we are extremely proud to have worked with them on several different projects, including the member energy scheme.

Chris Sargisson, CEO of Norfolk Chambers of Commerce said: “This is a great achievement for the winning companies and reflects the innovative and progressive nature of our members, their staff, and their businesses. It is clear that Norfolk is a thriving area to work and run a business.”

“We are extremely proud to be recognised by the Norfolk Chamber as a shining light in our area for workplace wellbeing and we will continue to put it right at the very top of the agenda.” James added.

Swan wellbeing is very important to us, so we’re delighted to have been recognised for all the work we do. One of our values is happiness first – we reversed the equation: happiness leads to success. We believe happiness leads to success, not the other way around. We promote wellbeing and advocate positivity. We take lots of steps to make sure our employees love spending their working life with us. We want to create an atmosphere where everybody can thrive.

“When you have a pressing health concern, you need the opportunity to focus on treatment and recovery, without added pressures by your employer. Through my own recent experience, Indigo Swan have been very supportive, which not only helped myself, but is seen and recognised by colleagues, friends and family.” Lee Hart, Head of Knowhow.

Swan wellbeing

Over the years, we’ve implemented several wellbeing initiatives which promote and encourage positive health and wellbeing. One of those includes our monthly Wellbeing Allowance, paid for by Indigo Swan, which is given to each swan to attend a wellbeing activity of their choosing. There are no rules or limitations on what this activity should be, and some of the ways it’s used include exercise classes, counselling and gym memberships.

Andrew Ducker, Energy Contract Enthusiast said: “There are very few employers who genuinely care about their employees’ wellbeing, so it is wonderful to work for one that does. Indigo Swan really does emphasise happiness first and it cannot be overstated how important that is!”

If you follow us on Instagram you might already be aware that every Thursday lunch time, around a third of the swans take part in a 1-hour Pilates class. It’s a great opportunity for the team to spend some time away from their desks and stretch any troubles or stresses away. Our teacher is amazing, and it’s always guaranteed to bring a giggle or two…

After work on a Wednesday we also have we have our weekly running club ‘Rons Runners’. For four years running, we have chosen Norwich & Central Norfolk Mind as our charity of the year , and one of the ways we raise funds for them each year is by taking part in Run Norwich. It’s had a real ripple effect and we are now regularly joined by swan family members.

“I love Indigo Swan. We are one big family. We stick together through thick and thin and when success comes it feels even better.” Alex Wiseman, Client Relationship and Engagement Executive.

Hand holding a paper note saying have a great day

This year we were proud to support Mental Health Awareness Week where, among other things, we purchased a green ribbon pin badge for each swan to wear, organised a ‘lunch and learn’ session on mental health in the workplace for all the swans and spread positivity around the City of Norwich with our ‘notes of kindness’.

These are just a few of the ways we encourage swan wellbeing. Many of our initiatives allow team members to voice their ideas, and everybody knows they’re an important part of the team whose opinions are valued. That’s why our culture works – we recognise everybody for their individual contributions.

Jaime Lloyd-Jones, Marketing Manager said: “I’m so proud to work for a company who takes its employees wellbeing so seriously, it’s like nowhere else I have worked before and I love that! Everyone has made me feel so welcome since I joined last November and have helped me settle into my new life in Norwich.”

Huge congratulations to Gnaw Chocolate who also won ‘Export Business of the Year’ and we look forward to joining everyone in November in London to celebrate all the amazing work everyone does.
