Meet the Swan – Sophie

Sophie or Soph as she is more commonly referred to around the nest, works as part of our amazing Client Services Team. She helps our clients with any queries they may have – this could be anything from submitting a meter reading to querying a high invoice. Sophie has been a Swan for nearly 2 years now which I won’t be the first to say, has gone so quickly! Normally we celebrate Swanniversary’s together in the nest with cake and sausage rolls, but this hasn’t been the case in 2020. Think we will have to raise a glass together over Teams instead.

A woman of many talents, one of which is her ability to always bring a smile to your face with her witty sense of humour. Guaranteed giggles when Sophie is in the room! Talking of talents, I recently found out that she used to play the trombone in school. I feel like we need to see this in action. Perhaps once we are back in the office, Fantastic Five Minutes coming on. Or maybe we need to start a Swan band. We could have Simon on the guitar, Hannah could be our front woman, James could play saxophone, I could be on the drums and of course Soph playing the trombone. Now to just think of a name…

Something I was surprised to learn about Soph when she first started, which I find fascinating as I can’t live without it, is she isn’t really a hot drink kind of person. When I asked her what her favourite food was, she said fajitas (strong choice) and in her own words “with a side of tequila!” which says it all really! There have been many Swan night outs where the tequila shots have come out and we’ve hit the dance floor. Definitely can’t wait until we are able to do that again!

Sophie’s love for traveling is evident in her piece of art on the Swan Wall. It’s a picture of Florida, which brings back fond memories for her of family holidays. When I asked her, what the favourite place she has travelled to was, she replied with New York. “It has been on my list for a while and it was great to finally tick it off. That’s not to say that I won’t go back one day!” I can remember when she came back into the nest after the trip she took with her Mum and she was glowing. I loved hearing all her stories and about all the places she visited. It was never somewhere I thought I was interested in going until I heard about her trip. I’ve now added it onto my list. Top of Sophie’s bucket list is to visit either Thailand or to see the Northern Lights. Let’s just hope next year allows us all to travel a little bit more!

A keen baker, in her spare time she can usually be found rustling up a scrummy cheesecake at the weekend or baking some delicious bread. She also loves curling up with a good book. Recently she finished The Silent House by Nell Pattinson and I Invited Her in by Adele Parks. “I love a book that keeps you guessing!” she said. There are quite a few Swans that love a good book and we regularly share recommendations with each other. Some of our favourites has been Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce and anything by Shari Lapena. Family time is important to Sophie and she loves hanging out with her cute nephews. We love hearing the stories of what they get up to at the weekend.

Before we end what has been a bizarre year, Sophie is hoping to move into her new home. It’s been a long, drawn out process which has been testing at times, but we all have everything crossed for her that she will be settled in her new place soon.
