Indigo Swan 2.0

Indigo Swan was founded in 2009 by Emily Groves. The vision of the business was one that put culture at the heart of everything it did, it focused on process and always put integrity over profit. We enjoyed some extremely successful early years and under Emily’s leadership, won numerous national awards in recognition of the innovation, trust and transparency that we were bringing to the UK’s Energy Consultancy sector. Alongside a strong Senior Leadership Team, we were able to grow and allow Emily the opportunity to exit the day-to-day operation of the business in 2019 and pursue her own interests including studying the psychology of wisdom and entrepreneurship.

Indigo Swan was left in the capable hands of Managing Director James Groves and his Senior Leadership Team. Since 2019, we have continued to grow, and despite the storm of COVID and the current energy crisis, have continued to receive national and regional recognition for how we act, not only as an energy consultancy but also as a business. We are so proud to have been recognised at the Norfolk Business Awards as a two-time SME Business of the Year and at the Investors in People Awards this year, as a standout employer in the Gold Standard category. Most recently we have just been awarded the title of ‘Most Trusted Energy Consultancy – SME’ at the 2022 Energy Live News Consultancy Awards (TELCA).

2023 onwards

As we head into 2023, it is with great excitement and pride that Emily and James can announce the completion of a Management Buyout by James and his fellow Indigo Swan Directors; Aimee Konieczny, Andy Kindleysides and Hayley Leech. The MBO team, fronted by James, is excited to lead Indigo Swan into the future and continue the amazing work that Emily started. The team will continue to honour and respect the legacy that Emily leaves behind in the business.

Emily commented:

“Running a successful company is an adventure that requires huge amounts of bravery, tenacity and care. I am immensely proud of and grateful to James and the whole team at Indigo Swan for achieving all of this with tremendous grace. I very much look forward to watching them continue to grow by shining a light on ethical business practices that place people at the heart of what they do.”

James said:

“Indigo Swan is more than just a business to me. It is my family. I am grateful to Emily for the opportunity she gave me 13 years ago to join the team and for the trust she put in me to become Commercial Director and then Managing Director in early 2019. The business has always put people and happiness first and under the new ownership this will continue to be the case. I am grateful of the culture that Emily implemented, and I am proud that we have been able to continue to have success over the last 3 years.”

He continued:

“Moving forward I am so grateful to my MBO team of Aimee, Andy and Hayley. They look out for me, the Swans, our clients, suppliers and represent our business nationally and within the local community amazingly. I am lucky to have them on this journey with me and the growth we have seen over the last 3 years, whilst at times challenging, gives me the confidence, that this is just the start of even greater things for Indigo Swan, as we head into the next step of our journey; Indigo Swan 2.0.”

Aimee Konieczny – Commercial Director

Aimee joined Indigo Swan as a Client Guide after wanting more from her career and personal happiness. She has been a swan for 7.5 years and brings a vast amount of knowledge and in depth understanding of the energy sector to her role.

Aimee said: “Indigo Swan 2.0 is so exciting to be involved with, and I’m hugely grateful to James for encouraging me to be a part of the MBO team. With his leadership and support, I know myself, Hayley and Andy will work together to ensure the best possible future for the whole team at Indigo Swan. We have great plans to grow the business and make it the best possible place to work. I can’t imagine owning a business with three more wonderful people.”

Andy Kindleysides – Operations Director

Andy started his journey at Indigo Swan as a Contract Administrator and has moved his way through several different roles since he joined. He has recently celebrated his 12th year as a swan.

Andy said: I am delighted to be involved within Indigo Swan 2.0. The best thing about working at Indigo Swan are the Swans; we are like one big family who pull together in the same direction, to be the best we can be, every day. I am so proud to be in a position to be able to ensure that we continue this, even when we continue to grow. Huge thanks to James, Aimee and Hayley for the support and guidance over the years, and I’m super excited for the future.”

Hayley Leech – Finance Director

Hayley joined Indigo Swan in 2018 after searching for a role that not only allowed her to share her wealth of financial knowledge, but also somewhere that she could make a difference, and this passion and enthusiasm is evident daily in the nest.

Hayley said: “I am very excited to be joining James, Aimee and Andy in the running of Indigo Swan 2.0. We have faced challenges as a team over the last few years but have tackled each hurdle together which has seen us come out the other side stronger, still smiling, and reporting our best financial performance year on year. Our fantastic team of Swans are all committed to providing a world class service to our clients, living and breathing our values every day. I’m so proud of what we have achieved and where we are today. I can’t wait as we head into 2023 continuing to put the Swans and our clients Happiness First.”

Final words from James Groves – Managing Director

“I am so very proud of Aimee, Andy and Hayley. They have all helped Indigo Swan get to where we are today and we couldn’t have done this without them. They are so important to me, and the future of Indigo Swan and I can never put into words how grateful I am to them. They have got me through the last 3 years and worked so hard to get us to this point. They all mean so much to me and the rest of the Swans. Having them with me on this journey means so much and I am so excited to take Indigo Swan alongside them to new heights and to continue to be a business that is respected at the highest level within the Energy Consultancy sector.”

Thank you to all of our clients, and friends who have supported us through the years. We are really excited for the next part of our journey and to see what achievements Indigo Swan 2.0 brings!
