Solar PV and Battery Storage
- Low maintenance costs
- Easy installation
- Increasing return on investment
The sun provides a self-sufficient source of clean, renewable energy. This can be converted into electricity using solar photovoltaic panels, usually referred to as ‘solar PV’. Solar PV systems turn sunlight into electricity through the ‘solar cells’ they contain. Usually mounted on a roof or frame, panels come in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on the individual space.
Batteries provide the ability for a user to become completely self-sufficient and can be used with a variety of generation assets. They store additional energy generated from solar PV panels, giving you a ‘back up’ energy source should it be needed. Grid connectivity is key, with many DNOs now keen for battery installations to be commissioned due to their reliance on balancing the grid.
We recently installed Solar PV for Gnaw Chocolate. We installed 150kW with the ability to generate approximately 130,000kWh per annum. This will contribute to a significant amount of Gnaw Chocolate’s electricity consumption, along with providing some export to the grid.

Low maintenance costs, easy installation and increasing return on investment are all factors which make solar worth considering. Coupled with battery storage, it is a great way of generating clean, green energy for your business. Dependant on setup, additional revenue can also be received from selling excess energy back to the grid in the form of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Many proposals throughout 2022 are achieving a return on investment as early as year four with a guaranteed lifespan of 20 years, and the majority of installations often lasting up to 30 years.
Read our blog on 5 Reasons to Consider Solar PV for your Business.
The first steps would be to have an initial conversion to establish your needs and aspirations. We would then do a site audit, which would involve visiting the premises, assessing your data and energy usage, so that we could discuss our recommendations. We would then speak to our suppliers to get you the best offering. A full proposal, including a 25-year return on investment, will be put together and sent across to you. This should contain everything you need to make a decision. We can then review this proposal with you and undertake any negotiations. If you decide to go ahead, we will be able to support you through the project and answer any queries you have.

Electric Vehicle Charging Points (EV)
With the government setting a target of stopping sales of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030, there is a strong focus on electric and hybrid vehicles. Over the next few years, as we get closer to the 2030 deadline, the demand for EV points will become much greater. Whether you are looking to install charge points for commercial vehicles or private employee cars we can guide you through finding the right solution for your business.
Outsourced Energy Management
Understanding how energy is being used in your business, the impact it’s having on the environment and finding ways to become more energy efficient can be a full-time job for someone – although you may find hiring an in-house Energy Manager costly. We can provide you with the services of an Outsourced Energy Manager, who spends as much or as little time within your business as you choose. Whether your business needs to meet ESOS or SECR audits, or you wish to promote your workforce to be more sustainable, our outsourced energy manager can cater for all aspects.
5 Reasons to Consider Solar PV for your Business
Investing in solar could help your business protect a significant portion of its energy usage from increasing costs and will put you ahead of growing legislation as the government focuses on net zero. Not only could it bring substantial financial benefits it’s also becoming increasing attractive due to the positive impact on the environment.
What is Net Zero? Are Businesses Ready?
Lots of us have heard the term Net Zero but a lot of us are not aware of what this means. Before we look at how we can achieve this, it is important to look at what is meant by this. In simple terms, it refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed by the atmosphere.
Sustainable Fashion
Sustainable fashion relates to clothing that has been made in an ethical way and this includes a range of areas such as the premises that they are made in, fair pay for workers, the use of recyclable materials or materials that don’t harm the planet etc.
Are we doing enough for future generations to live sustainably?
As part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development there are a collection of 17 interlinked sustainable goals that have been set out to re-affirm the commitment by the world to sustainable development.
