“I would 100% recommend Indigo Swan in the future. The service we have received has been amazing, their pricing is competitive, and they have made the complete process really easy for us. We were extremely impressed with Oliver’s expansive knowledge, and this was one of the main reasons we were drawn towards you. We hit it off with Oliver from the very start. He was personal and really easy to get on with. We formed a really good working relationship with which made the process really easy. On the odd occasion he was not available to talk to, we were always directed to someone else within the company who were able to help with our queries.” – Dr Michael Barwood, Technical and Quality Manager at Bowles & Walker
Based in East Anglia, Bowles & Walker have been running for over 40 years. They manufacture a range of moulding products for the engineering, retail, medical and pharmaceutical industries.
Bowles & Walker have always had a strong drive to become a more sustainable business. Back in 2016, before they started working with Indigo Swan, they recognised the need for solar PV technology and had a series of panels installed on their premises.
Fast forward to 2022 – a continued push towards sustainability combined with volatile energy markets meant their desire to expand their solar technology was accelerated. As a manufacturing company, using substantial amounts of energy, the increase in energy prices towards the start of the year did not go unnoticed and it quickly became apparent they needed to make some changes – this is where Indigo Swan came in!
We helped Bowles & Walker install an additional 80kW solar PV system on their main building. We assessed their usage profile along with their connection to the grid and alongside our trusted partner Power Different, designed a system which would significantly lower their consumption from the grid and offer a return on investment by year four.
Further site visits have also taken place to discuss other technologies, these include vertical wind turbines and battery storage systems, where energy can be utilised in the evenings in the absence of solar. Bowles & Walker are also pursuing a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) through Indigo Swan where excess energy is sold back to the grid generating additional revenue for Bowles & Walker.
Our Swan Sustainability Expert, Oliver Denison, worked closely with Bowles & Walker to not only make sure their needs were met, but to give recommendations as to how to develop their own ideas in order for the project to meet its full potential. Oliver attended site visits where he was able to take the time to explain processes and offer detailed breakdowns of how the project would work.
After receiving quotations from other consultants and suppliers, Bowles & Walker realised the technology on offer varied a great deal and Indigo Swan, alongside our trusted partner Power Different, were able to provide more advanced, up to date tech then some of the other companies they approached. This combined with our competitive pricing, locality and the expertise they received from Oliver and the rest of the team were all deciding factors in choosing to work with us.
“It was straight forward and went extremely smoothly. Everyone was helpful and kept us well informed throughout the entire project. If businesses can finance it themselves then why wait!? Do it now and you will see the benefits pretty quickly. This project has helped us work towards meeting our charitable objectives, enabling us to do our bit in taking steps to protect our future whilst financially migrating risks.”
– Fearn Ainsworth, Commercial Development Manager at the Showground.
“Indigo Swan have also taken care of messy billing from some suppliers, sorting grid connection agreements with the distribution networks and ensure our HH data is easily reportable through competitive MOP and DA/DC contracts. We‘re very happy with the service and attention Proximity Data Centres receive through Indigo Swan.” – Charles Galtrey, Operations Director
“We have a number of academies whose energy contracts all have different end dates. Indigo Swan helped to get us to a position where the majority are on the same contract.” – Sharon Money, Head of Operations
“The guidance and advice we received from our client guide was very good, it was thorough, and Andrew was generally really helpful. We picked Indigo Swan over another TPI because of the detailed information we received, and we felt more comfortable that Indigo Swan would deliver on what they promised. ” – Laura Cahill, Office Manager
