Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company, once said: “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” Wise words from a man who changed the way of life for many people with his vision to make owning a car both practical and affordable.
At Indigo Swan we have an unflinching commitment to finding a better way and just like Henry Ford recognise how ‘change’ plays a vital role in helping us progress and grow both individually and as a company. With that in mind I am over the moon to announce that James, our current Commercial Director, has been promoted to Managing Director effective from 1st May 2019.
James said: “To become Managing Director of Indigo Swan is the single greatest achievement of my life so far, other than my wife saying yes to marrying me! I am extremely honoured and proud that Emily has entrusted me with the future success of the company and the continued growth and development of the swan family.”
I know everyone at the nest will join me in taking this opportunity to congratulate James on this amazing and very exciting achievement. Everyday James goes above and beyond to make sure each of us feel happy and comfortable in our working environment. When I first joined the nest around five months ago, James helped make me feel part of the team instantly and since then has become a valued friend I truly respect.
Lee, Head of Knowhow said: “From the moment I joined, it was obvious how passionate James is about Indigo Swan. It is rare to meet someone that genuinely cares so much for the company they work for, but also each and every customer, supplier and Swan. Well deserved.”
Aimee, Client Guide Coach, added: “Well done James! This promotion has been a long time coming and is extremely well deserved. Indigo Swan will continue to grow and develop with you at the helm. You lead from the front with your “happiness first” approach, and the whole team feels the benefit. Thank you for developing my career and looking after me over the last 4 years, even during the times when things have been tough for you.”
James’ promotion will also see Emily, Founder and original Managing Director, move to Executive Chair. She said: “Almost 10 years ago I founded Indigo Swan and it has been an exhilarating journey so far. With a very clear sense of who we are, what matters most to us and a desire to do our best every day I am incredibly proud of the organisation we are today and our bold ambitions for the future. James’s passion for Indigo Swan has fuelled our success and empowered our Swans.” She added: “The culture we’ve purposefully nurtured at Indigo Swan has made it possible that this transition feels completely natural and exciting. I’m delighted that, whilst I’ll continue to work in partnership with James to guide the strategic direction of Indigo Swan, I will also have the opportunity to devote time to my wider enthusiasm for awesome company cultures.”
James joined the nest in May 2010 when he started as an Account Manager. Since then he has been instrumental in helping it grow and flourish. In November 2018 James was promoted from Head of Talent and Organisational Development to Commercial Director and now only six months on, his hard work and dedication is being recognised once again.
“To have seen the company grow the way it has since 2010 has been amazing and truly rewarding. The fact that I have played a part in this and hopefully been able to improve the life of our Swans and been able to help over 500 businesses is extremely gratifying.” said James.
Leanne, Client Services Enthusiast said: “I am very lucky to have worked with James all these years. There is no-one that could have stepped into this role better than him! He genuinely cares for each swan and wants nothing more that the best for us. He has helped me massively over the years, he is always honest with me, he listens to me and most importantly he inspires me to be the best version of myself.”
Alex, Client Relationship & Engagement Executive said: “James motivates, leads and mentors all us swans to be the very best versions of ourselves” and I couldn’t agree with Alex more.
Good luck James, not that we think you need it, and we all couldn’t be happier to see you in your new role as MD.
"Indigo Swan were professional but with a personable approach. Their market knowledge allowed me to enter new contracts with confidence, this was something I was unable to do with my previous broker."
Joanna Thornton, Estate Manager
"The experience behind the Indigo Swan team, their passion and integrity were all important to us. They clearly understood the market and could provide the best advice. "
Phil Riseborough, Head of Facilities
"We’ve worked with other energy consultants, but with Indigo Swan we get real integrity and service that is way beyond our expectations. We have already saved over £120k."
